Hello ASVP-ers,
We are eagerly and busily preparing for the festivities in the redwoods by the sea for AVSP'99. For those of you who submitted a paper, you will be soon receiving guidelines for revision of your contribution. We are also planning a demo session or two and will make a call for demo contributions.
There will be registration information on our web site in the very near future. The general plan of the conference is as follows. We will bus folks from San Francisco to Santa Cruz on Saturday at the end of ICPhS. Housing will be on the university campus, as will the meetings. There will be a reception on Saturday night, Shakespeare Santa Cruz with a picnic lunch in the forest glen on Sunday night, and a barbecue overlooking the bay on Monday night.
Papers and demos will be on Sunday and Monday. We will have two plenary talks, sessions on visual and bimodal speech perception, one on auditory speech to visual speech synthesis, one on computer animation of talking heads, and one on speechreading and speech recognition by machine. On Tuesday, we will have bus transportation back to San Francisco or to the San Francisco or San Jose airports. If you are flying on Tuesday and would like the bus service, try to fly after 12 pm. There is also other transportation to the airport if you do not take the bus.
Looking forward to having you here.
Dom
